Gregory Lynn Wilson

Mr. Gregory Lynn Wilson, 53, of Mocksville, NC, passed away unexpectedly December 24, 2010. Greg was born February 3, 1957 to Donald Lee and Alzada Cook Wilson in Roanoke, VA. He was the only son of six children. The family moved to Winston-Salem, NC in 1972. Greg attended West Forsyth High School and graduated in 1975. He worked for the WS/FC School System, first as a bus driver in high school and then as an assistant mechanic, where he met the girl who would later become his wife, Tonya Williams Wilson. Greg followed in his father's footsteps by working for the railroad for several years, a job he thoroughly loved. He was employed at AMP, Inc. for 19 yrs., and then with The Wright Group based in Raleigh. He was most recently employed by Burton Service Company, Inc. of Westfield, NC as General Manager. Greg enjoyed the working relationship he had with everyone at BSCI and considered Tim and Pam Burton good friends as well as his employers. He and Tonya chose Davie county to call home and raise their four sons, and it was Davie that felt most like home to him. Greg was preceded in death by his father, and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Roope. He is survived by his mother; his wife of 33 years, Tonya Williams Wilson and four sons: Chris (Amber), Josh (Laura), Matthew (Kasey), and Jacob, still of the home; grandchildren Blake, Andrea, Conner, Danielle, Brayden and CJ.; sisters Sandra (Terry) Walker, Linda Roope, Donna Nichols, Anne (Larry) Damba and Lisa (George) Gerdes; and many nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Virginia Lowe, who loved him as a son, and his very close friend and brother-in-law, Michael Williams. Greg was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints where a memorial service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 1:00pm on Westchester Rd. in Winston-Salem, NC.
