Gray Junior Sonny" Grubbs

RURAL HALL - Mr. Gray Junior ""Sonny"" Grubbs, age 81, of Rural Hall passed away Monday, February 7, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born November 22, 1929 in Rural Hall, NC to the late Otis Rufus Grubbs and Mary Elizabeth Griffin Grubbs. Mr. Grubbs served in the United States Army from 1954 - 1956. He was employed at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Wachovia Oil Company, Patterson-Smith Oil Company, and an avid business owner and farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Gray Grubbs; and a daughter, Lori Amanda Grubbs. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years and 7 months, Phyllis Grubbs; one daughter, Jennifer Gayle Grubbs of Rural Hall; one brother, Steve Grubbs (Diana); three sisters, Virginia Belton, Patsy Martin and Becky Fallin; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be conducted 1:00 pm Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Woodland Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Gammons and the Rev. Vic Pyles officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 8 from 6 to 8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church, 1175 Bethania-Rural Hall Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
