Grant Darnell

Mr. Grant Darnell, 54, of Lewisville, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012. He was born October 22, 1958 in Forsyth County to Virginia Bowen Darnell and Clifton E. Darnell, Sr. Mr. Darnell was a devoted husband, son and father who was an avid cyclist and cat lover. He graduated from West Forsyth High School in 1977. He volunteered for the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department before going to work for the Winston-Salem Fire Department for 23 years where he earned a rank of a Captain. Mr. Darnell also sponsored a child for the last 15 years from Child Fund International. Surviving are his wife, Krista Kiger; a daughter whom he adored, Rachel Kiger; his mother, Virginia Darnell; one brother, Cliff Darnell, Jr. and wife Dale; two nephews, Sam and Matt Darnell and his cats, Miss Gen, Oscar and Little Man. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Rev. Sidney Lanier officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
