Mr. Graham Hoover Groce, 89, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015 at The Oaks at Forsyth. He was born in Yadkin County on May 11, 1925 to Charles and Joyce Brown Groce. Mr. Groce was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He attended New Hope Christian Church. Mr. Groce retried after many years of service in the construction business. He was also an agent for Life of Virginia and a security officer for North Point Security and Security Forces Incorporated. He loved fishing at the ocean and enjoyed his home on Oak Island. He was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Mr. Groce was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 59 years, Laura F. Groce; three brothers, Howard, Calvin and Eugene Groce; and two sisters, Grace and Ruby Feimster. He is survived by a daughter, Judy Roach and husband Marty of Lexington; a son David Groce and wife Susie of Winston-Salem, six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, March 9, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Terry Coats officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park with military honors provided by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm Sunday evening at the funeral home. The family would like to send a special thank you to all of the nurses and staff at South Fork Assisted Living and The Oaks at Forsyth Nursing Care Center.
