Grady Wilson Marion

Mr. Grady Wilson Marion, 72, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at his home. He was born in Surry Co. on May 10, 1942 the son of the late Jesse and Frankie Marion. Grady was the co-owner of Northside Texaco/Service Station in Winston-Salem with his brother Ottie for over 45 years. He proudly served our country in the US Army while stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska during the Vietnam War. Grady loved working on his farm, working with cattle and making hay every year. He loved UNC sports, Dodgers Baseball and was a huge Jeff Gordon fan. In addition to his parents Grady was preceded in death by his grandson, Jacob Pettitt. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Brenda Aldridge Marion of the home, his daughter, Chrystal Pettitt and husband Jason of Shoals, a granddaughter, Kennedy Danielle Pettitt, who is expected in the next few days, three sisters, Jeanie Searcy, Carol Smith (Ed) and Judy Bullington (Wickie) all of Shoals, four brothers, Bobby Marion of Stanleyville, Roger Marion of Clemmons, Arthur ""Ottie"" Marion of Stanleyville and Steve Marion of Shoals and a host nieces, nephews and extended family members. Grady is also survived by his very loyal companion, Titan. A memorial service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Fairview United Methodist Church located at 3692 Quaker Church Rd., Pinnacle, NC 27043. Rev. William Roberts and Rev. Joey Jessup will officiate the service. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Post #290 of King. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Ln., Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or American Legion Post #290, 446 S. Main St., King, NC 27021. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Senior Quality Care of Pilot Mountain, Mountain Valley Hospice and Tina Brown for the wonderful care that they provided during Grady's time of need.
