Grady Miller Griffin Jr.

Mr. Grady Miller Griffin Jr., 88, passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 at Walnut Ridge Assisted Living in Walnut Cove. He was born October 9, 1921 in Forsyth County to the late Grady Miller Griffin Sr. and Beulah Bodenhamer Griffin. Mr. Griffin lived his life in steadfast Christian faith and humble service to his family, church and friends. He was a member of Rural Hall Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir as long as his health permitted. Mr. Griffin was the founder and co-owner of B&G Pie Company in Winston-Salem. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Griffin loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and playing golf. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances White Griffin of the home, two daughters, Donna Lawson and husband James of Kernersville and Karen Griffin of Rural Hall, two grandsons, Matthew Lawson of Kernersville and Kyle Southern of Washington, D.C., one sister, Agnes Merle Holt of King, one brother, Robert Griffin of Rural Hall and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Griffin will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Clyde George, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 Monday, December 21, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Walnut Ridge Assisted Living and Stokes County Hospice for their compassionate care.
