Graciela (Mariscal) Flores, fondly known as “Mama Chela”, passed away on January 2, 2021, at the age of 78. She was born on December 23, 1942, in García de la Cadena, Zacatecas, México, to Basilio Mariscal and Regina Guzman Mariscal.
Throughout her life, she was devoted to her Catholic faith and family above all else. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, traveling, shopping, and visiting with family. Her family will greatly miss her strong example of faith, persevering spirit, and dedication to those she loved.
Mama Chela was happily married to her husband of 60 years, Manual Flores-Machuca, who also passed just days after her death on January 7, 2021. She is survived by 7 children, Rubén Flores, Rosa Farias (Salvador), Francisco Flores, Silvia Fuentes (Armando), Lorena Ibarra (Jose), Veronica Parrish (Kevin), and Patricia Sedano (Carlos); 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Enrique, Martin, and Salvador; and 5 sisters, Ramona, Maria, Sofia, Estela, and Rosalba. All of her beloved family members she cherished deeply.
A Funeral Mass will be held to commemorate her life, as well as the life of her husband, Manuel Flores-Machuca, on Tuesday, January 12 at 3 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 616 S Cherry St, Kernersville, NC, 27284. Condolences can be sent to 301 Collinwood Rd, Burlington, NC, 27215. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent in Mama Chela’s memory to the American Parkinson Disease Association at https://www.apdaparkinson.org/.
