Gracie Virginia Green King

KING - RURAL HALL Mrs. Grace Virginia Green King, age 88, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at her home. She was born on November 9, 1923 in Wayne County, NC to the late Eva Melissa Odom Jones and Ashley Miles Jones. Mrs. King was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She retired from American Tobacco Company with 42 years of service. Mrs. King was an avid gardener, a talented poet, and she enjoyed needle work. In addition to her parents, Mrs. King was preceded in death by her first husband, William Monore Green; second husband, Ernest Edward King; two brothers, Elbert Lee Jones Sr. and William Ashley Jones; and step-son, Ernest Larry King. Surviving are her son, William M. ""Bill"" Green and wife, Joyce; step-son, Ricky Dale King; two nephews, Elbert Lee Jones Jr. and Jackie Randall Jones; first cousin, Charles Robert Odom; her kitty-cat, Precious; and also, other extended family members. A funeral service to celebrate Mrs. King's life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Brad Stamey and Pastor Brian Alverson officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Hospice and WFBMC Reynolds 5th floor for the loving care given to Mrs. King.
