Mrs. Grace Westmoreland Johnson, 88, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born on December 25, 1934, in Stokes County, the daughter of the late Worth Westmoreland and Alma Slate Westmoreland. Grace graduated from King High School, where she played basketball. She was a pastor’s wife at the First Christian Church in High Point and homemaker until her husband Hoyt passed away. Grace was a longtime member of Poplar Springs Christian Church and retired from the King Public Library. She loved her Poplar Springs family and assisted with Bible School and many other activities at the church. Grace also loved her family deeply, caring for her mother for many years. Grace was also an avid Duke Blue Devils fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Hoyt Leon Johnson, and her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and David Lewis. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and David Dismuke, her granddaughter, Grace Dismuke, her niece, Janet Guertin (David) and many extended family members. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Poplar Springs Christian Church in King, with Ralph Sproles, Minister and Pastor Griffin Gilstrap officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Poplar Springs Christian Church or to the King Public Library.
