Grace Snowden

Mrs. Grace Maryland Snowden, 89, of Winston-Salem passed away September 15, 2018. She was born July 25, 1929, the daughter of Joseph (Jack) and Bessie Beckwith of Durham, NC, the oldest of three children. Maryland was married to her husband Earl Snowden for 62 years. Maryland was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl and her sister Patsy Denning of Durham.

Maryland is survived by her three children Sammy Snowden and wife Judy of Clemmons; twin daughters, Teresa Snowden, Lisa Lambeth and husband Kenneth of Winston-Salem. Maryland is also survived by her sister Bobbie Tennant of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Crystal, Eric and Tyler; two great grandchildren, Amber and Sarah.

Maryland was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church of Konnoak Drive, Winston-Salem.
In addition to Maryland's love for the Lord, she enjoyed cooking, gardening and shopping. Some of her recipes have been featured in local magazines such as Yadkin Valley Living. Maryland's passion for flowers and plants won her numerous blue ribbons at the Dixie Classic Fair. She loved to cook and bake and would waste no time letting you know "if you left her house hungry it was your own fault". Maryland knew everyone's favorite dish and would more often than not have it prepared for you on your birthday or some other special occasion.

Maryland touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her caring spirit, integrity and devotion to God and family. All her works, thoughts, aspirations and prayers centered on her devotion to everlasting love for each one.

A celebration of Maryland's life will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Kevin Connelly officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be private at Parklawn Memorial Park, Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem.
