Gordon Edward Smith

Winston-Salem- Mr. Gordon Edward Smith, 59, passed away Saturday, February 07, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born December 25, 1949 in Davidson County to Woodrow Edward and Grace Gordon Smith. Mr. Smith graduated from Parkland High School and Appalachian State University. He was a teacher at Forsyth Technical Community College, volunteer, and tutor. Mr. Smith was a member at Konnoak Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and sang in the choir. Preceding him in death was his father, Woodrow E. Smith. Surviving is his mother, Grace G. Smith; sister, Grace Anne Martin and husband David of Raleigh and a nephew, Alan Martin. A memorial service will be held 4:00 PM Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Konnoak Baptist Church 400 McLean Avenue with Rev. John Bishop officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Konnoak Baptist Church, 400 McLean Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
