Gloria Larue Felker

On Monday, June 19th, 2023, Mrs. Gloria Larue Felker went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of 93. She was born in Indiana, PA on August 10, 1929.

In addition to her parents, Glen and Ruth Gibson, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie and Billy, a grandson, Justin Robert Felker, a son-in-law, Dean Eichelberger, and her beloved husband of almost 60 years, John.

Gloria was working with Youth For Christ in Indianapolis, Indiana, when she and John met and were married. She then worked with her husband in Child Evangelism Fellowship for quite a number of years. After moving from New Jersey to Winston-Salem, she worked for North Carolina Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, now called Atrium, for 22 years. She loved her job in the Diet and Nutrition department.

Gloria was a member of Grace Baptist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and ministering at two nursing homes in Winston-Salem.

She will be remembered by her six children: Darlene Duncan (Roger), David Paul Felker (Linda), Dale Eichelberger, Daniel Keith Felker (Julie), John Douglas Felker (Kimberly), Daryl Lee Felker (Kelly). “Mom Mom” will also be missed by her much loved 19 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. She will be remembered by her siblings as well; Bob Gibson, Larry Gibson, Ken Gibson (Sue), Marilyn Mason, Doris Cole and numerous nieces and nephews. The reference for her and John’s favorite verse, Romans 8:38-39, was inscribed on the inside of their wedding rings.

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
