Glennie Lee Collins Patton, age 66 passed away at her home in Advance, N.C., on February 7, 2012 after suffering a long term illness. Prior to her death, she was surrounded by close family and friends. Glennie was the youngest daughter of Mildred Wiggins Collins and Zeke Collins (both deceased) of Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Glennie/Mrs. Patton was born in Jacksonville, NC, lived in Winthrop Beach, Massachussets for a short time then moved to Jacksonville Beach, Florida and lived there until she moved to Advance, NC with her husband Jim. Glennie attended Fletcher High School. Glennie/Mrs. Patton is survived by her husband of 48 years, James (Jim) Patton, a life-long resident of Advance, her daughter Kimberly Patton Allgood and grandson Dillan Plowman and granddaughter, Kelly Allgood of Mocksville, N.C., Nearest relatives include her sister and brother-in-law, Betty(Collins) & Don York, sister & brother-in-law, Marilyn (Collins) & Richard Rawlins, all of Jacksonville, FL. Glennie is also survived by many cousins, nieces (Lori Rawlins Gates), nephews (Scott Gregory, Joe York, David Rawlins) and great-nieces and great-nephews Jacksonville, Fl .and many special friends and Hang and Jessie and Karen, Ben and Mason. Glennie was preceded in death by her mother and father and a nephew Jeffrey Vincent Patton. Glennie will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving wife, mother, NANA, sister, daughter and friend. Glennie was a wonderful dancer and loved to Shag. She was a Beach Girl for all of her life. She and her husband Jim, supported many local organizations. She worked alongside her husband in the family owned business Patton Bros. Inc./PBI Music & Games. Glennie was a generous but private person who anonymously contributed to the welfare of many in her family and in the local community. Glennie cared deeply for those she loved. Glennie had a life-long relationship with God and in her Christian walk and journey most recently was re-baptized as a witness to others of her strong faith. Christian Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 10, 2012 at Advance United Methodist Church by Rev. Lanny Atkins. The Family will receive friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. A memorial service will also be held at a later date in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center or Advance United Methodist Church.
