Glenn Ervin Crutchfield

Oak Ridge-Mr. Glenn Ervin Crutchfield, 74, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 09, 2010 at Thomasville Medical Center. He was born May 28, 1935 in Guilford County to the late A.B. and Ethel Long Crutchfield. Mr. Crutchfield was a member of Freedom Baptist Church. He and his brother, David were long time dairy farmers, and later started their own landscaping business. Glenn also served on the Board of Soil and Water Conservation of Guilford County District. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Elsie Irene Crutchfield. Surviving are his wife, Mary Spainhour Crutchfield of the home; four daughters, Connie Bolton and Tommy Oakley of Madison, Amy Nappier and husband Robert of Oak Ridge, Kathleen Whitaker and husband Andy of Climax, Elaine Smith and husband Craig of Pleasant Garden; a son, Jeffrey Crutchfield and wife Kwannapa of Oak Ridge; seven grandsons, Shane, Ross, Nathan, Evan, Paul, Thomas, Owen; three granddaughters, Monica, Cara, Abigail; two step-grandchildren, Chase and Nikki; four brothers, Leslie Crutchfield and wife Mildred, Lawrence Crutchfield and wife Thelma, Bobby Crutchfield and wife Vivian, David Crutchfield and wife Stella; two sisters, Marie Spainhour and husband Paul, and Alice Faye Burnell. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Paul Spainhour, and Mr. Vann Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the funeral home.
