HIGH POINT - Upon greeting Glenn and asking how he was doing, his typical response was ‘About half !' - Now he is whole….. Glenn Preston "Big Daddy" Baker, 63, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Hospice Home of the Piedmont surrounded by his family. Glenn was born on September 4, 1954 in Nash County to Julian Aaron and Nellie Proctor Baker. He was a wonderful husband, father and "Pappy". Glenn enjoyed gardening, woodworking, camping and being outdoors. He attended The Summit Church in Kernersville.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by a sister, Dwana Baker - who gave him the gift of life; and a brother-in-law, Chuck Leasure.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Jenny Johnson Baker; two sons, Josh Baker (wife, DeLee), and Kelly Baker (wife, Amanda); two grandchildren, Aubrey and Carson Baker; two sisters, Betty Leasure, and Janice True; one brother, Donnie Baker; several nieces and nephews; and a loving canine companion, "Bella".

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the Summit Church in Kernersville with Rev. Bradley Hill and Chaplain Brooks Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

The family extends a special thanks to Richard and Melanie Wohlford, Dr. Sanders and the entire staff at the Cancer Center at High Point Regional, and the Bone Marrow Transplant Team at UNC Cancer Center in Chapel Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SECU Family House Building Fund, 123 Old Mason Farm Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27517, or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1803 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
