Mrs. Glenda Vaden Venable passed away in peace on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. She was born to the late Inez Cardwell Vaden and William Lindsay Vaden in Stokes County on February 23, 1940. She was a very gracious lady that loved her family, spending time with her husband Darrell conducting several fun activities throughout their retirement years. She was a devoted wife and wonderful mother to two loving sons, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a long-time and faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church for over 50 years with her husband by her side. She always looked forward to working in the nursery there for many decades. She retired from Piedmont Airlines after several years, in addition to other jobs while her sons were growing up. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her loving husband, Darrell of 62 years, as they surf-fished at their favorite place, Kure Beach, with their favorite people. She also loved to travel all over the country, go on numerous ocean cruises, and would use those opportunities to ballroom dance for several years as well. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Darrell, son Mitch and grandson Christopher. She is survived by her son Bradley (Jenny), daughter-in-law Cheryl Venable (Mitch), grandchildren Bethany Godwin (Steven) and Wesley Venable (Lauren); great-grandchildren: Blake and Stella Godwin and Adrian Venable. She also had several loving cousins that were considered brothers and sisters to her, that always stayed in touch. In addition, thanks to all of the wonderful people at Brookridge Retirement Community where she spent the last year of her life. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 Saturday, October 16th at Bethany Baptist Church with Pastors Brian Alverson and Gary Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at gardens of Memory in Walkertown, NC. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, October 14th at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 600 Old Hollow Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
