Glenda Joy Jessup died Saturday, March 21, 2009 after an extended illness. Glenda was born to Rupert and Ida Ruth Mabe Jessup of Winston-Salem on January 17, 1948. She graduated from Parkland High School and served 20 years in the United States Navy. After retirement from the Navy, Glenda returned home to Winston-Salem where she devoted the remainder of her life to her aging parents, and worked part time at Food Lion. Glenda enjoyed traveling, family, friends, and pets, Red and Millie. Glenda was preceded in death by her father and brother, Warren Jessup. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Ida Ruth Jessup of Winston-Salem; sister, Vicki and Michael Kinzie of Greenville; brother, Douglas and Diane Jessup of Lewisville; a niece, Amy Jessup and nephew, Daniel of Lewisville, and nephews, Dylan Kinzie of Greenville and William Kinzie of Wilmington. She will be greatly missed by all of her family. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25 at Parklawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
