Glenda Hicks

Mrs. Glenda Carolyn Walker Hicks, 72, passed away at her home on Thursday, January 11, 2018 after an extended illness. Glenda was born on December 7, 1945 to Elgie Mae Pope and Clarence Odell Walker in Forsyth County. She enjoyed being a homemaker for as long as her health permitted. Her family recalls her talent for sewing and making pillows for her loved ones. Glenda had a kind and selfless nature, always putting others before herself. She was an avid country music fan and enjoyed computer games. More than anything, she dearly loved her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roland Lark; two sons, Larry Wayne Lark and Edgar Lark, Jr.; a grandson, Christopher Lark; and one sister, Patricia Darlene Walker Ball. Surviving, are her loving husband of 40 years, William Hicks; children, Nannette Raby, Ronald D. Lark, Brian Hicks (Jaime); grandchildren, Samuel E. Killion, Jr. (Amanda), Nikki Collins (Casey), Monica Cannon (Ethan), Honestie Lark, Austyn Lark, Seth Lark, Randy Lark, Abigail Hicks and Hannah Hicks; great grandchildren, Parker Killion, Hunter and Peyton Collins, Avery Raby, Kourtney Barclay, Madison Raby, Evan Barclay, Gavin Cannon, and Owen Cannon; as well as a brother, Terry Walker (Lynn); and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, January 15, 2018 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Mount Airy. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church cemetery in Tobaccoville. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
