Gladys Owens Todd

Mrs. Gladys Owens Todd, 89, of Kernersville, NC a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be missed greatly passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015. Gladys was born June 28, 1925 in Dillon, South Carolina to the Late Archibald and Carrie Weatherford Owens. She was a long time member of Union Cross Baptist Church and served as Church Custodian for over 40 years. She was retired from Alma Desk Furniture Company. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Walter Todd and a granddaughter, Michelle Lakey Liddle. Surviving to cherish her memory is four children; Faye Todd Lakey and husband, Dale of Winston-Salem, NC, Melanie Todd Hoyle and husband, Bence of Cherryville, NC, John Wayne Todd of Dallas, NC, Jerry Grimsley and wife, Carol of Billings, Montana, 9 grandchildren; Chris Lakey and wife, Kristie, Jacob Hoyle, Andrew Hoyle, Jessi Hoyle, Bryan Todd and wife, Kay, Kimberly Todd, Kenneth Grimsley and wife, Rhonda, Jason Liddle, Jada Aplin and husband, Scott, Jeri Ann Grimsley and 8 great-grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be conducted 10:00 am Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Union Cross Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Mark Ashworth. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the Graveside Service at Union Cross Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Union Cross Baptist Church, 4350 High Point Road, Kernersville, NC 27295. The Todd family would like to express their appreciation to the care givers at Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center for the care given to Mrs. Todd, and a special thanks to Sandra, who loved her and cared for her while Mrs. Todd was at Pine Ridge.
