Gladys Wilkey Tedder

Mrs. Gladys Wilkey Tedder passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born January 12, 1925 in Gaston County to the late William Henry Wilkey and Lillie Pearl Carver Wilkey. Mrs. Tedder married the love of her life in 1952. She retired from Western Electric in 1981 with 27 ½ years of service. Mrs. Tedder was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tedder was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ralph Piercy Tedder; one brother, Lewis Wilkey; and one sister, Mildred Blackwell. She is survived by her two sons, William Steven Tedder of Rural Hall and Robert Wayne Tedder (Kathy) of Winston-Salem; one grandson, A.J. Tedder (Nicole) of Winston-Salem; one brother, Joe Wilkey (Barbara) of Granite Falls; and one sister, Carolyn Elmore (Jack) of Hickory.

A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 6 at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville with the Rev. Eddie Honeycutt and the Rev. Terry Rausch officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, September 5 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
