Gladys Apple Stinson

Mrs. Gladys Apple Stinson, 90, left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on October 19, 2008 at her home. She was born in Rockingham County to the late Robert Hester and Ella Mae Dye Apple. Mrs. Stinson was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Gorrell Robert Stinson; three brothers, Cleo, Clyde, and Curtis Apple; and a step-son Jimmy Stinson. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a former member of Becks Baptist Church. Mrs. Stinson was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, The White Shrine, Forsyth Country Club, The Twin City Club, The Ladies Golfer's Association, and the Camel City Cuties Chapter of the Red Hat Society. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Mrs. Stinson's legacy includes her daughter, Kaye Stone and her special friend, Ronald Trivette; three grandchildren, Andy Stone and wife Cheryl, Toni Stone Brinson and husband David, and Tim Stinson; five great-grandchildren, Ciara and Bryce Stone, Scarlet Dalrymple, Brent Stinson, and Colton Worth Brinson; four great-great grandchildren, Amy, Danielle, A.J., and Haley; a daughter-in-law, Joy Stinson; two sisters, Chinetta Petree and Helen Kimsey. Special caregiver, Donna Buchanan, Linda Ashby who was like a daughter, and many friends and special neighbors who will be remembered for their thoughtfulness and kindness. Mamaw was a loving story teller who shared family stories that made you feel you were there. She had a sweet and simple way which drew people to her. Her kindness and wittiness always left you with memories that carried you until your next visit with her. She always had a warm and gracious smile, an abundance of love to give and she shared it freely. A celebration of her life will be conducted at 12:30pm, Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. Burial will follow at Charity Baptist Church Cemetery in Boonville. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm today at the funeral home.
