Gladys Satterfield Scott, 88, of Winston-Salem passed away February 16, 2013, one day after her 88th birthday, and following her birthday celebration with her loving family. Gladys was born in Forsyth County to Edward Eugene and Esther Lashmit Satterfield and was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the UMW and loved her ""sorority"", as she called it, and making chicken pies. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Houstin, and is now in heaven laughing, talking, and holding hands with him. She is also predeceased by six brothers, Norman, Edward, Frank, Ray, Bill, and Max Satterfield. Surviving are two daughters, Becky (and son-in-law Barry) Cook and Carol Mozina; her very special granddaughter, Suzanne Cook Hanna (and husband Jon); two great grandchildren, Mack Houstin and Claire Scott Hanna; a precious sister, Betty Jo (and husband Bub) Spaugh; many beloved nieces, nephews, first cousins, and a very special lifelong friend, Betty Crater. A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Bethel United Methodist Church by Rev. David Smith. The family will receive friends following the service and requests that memorials be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 2350 Bethel Church Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
