Gladys Sink Phelps

Mrs. Gladys Sink Phelps, 87, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011 at South Fork Assisted Living with her family by her side. She was born June 30, 1923 in Forsyth County to Larry and Effie Doub Sink. Mrs. Phelps was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy H. Phelps in 2009. Surviving are three children, Linda P. Miller, Bobby L. Phelps and wife Luann, Carol P. Lambeth and husband, Jerry; six grandchildren, Jennifer O'Ferrell and husband Jason, Brittany M. Protokowicz and husband, Joe, Scott M. Lambeth, Magen R. Lambeth, Ryan L. Phelps, and Neil S. Phelps; two great grandchildren, Jameson and Jayden O'Ferrell; two sisters, Josephine Johnson and husband, Jim and Effie Mae Crouch; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Bob McCaskill officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pinedale Christian Church, 3395 Peters Creek Parkway, W-S, N.C. 27127 or to Alzheimer's Research Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, N.C. 28215. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of South Fork Assisted Living for the love and support they gave to Mrs. Phelps.
