Glade Laws, Jr

Glade “Jeff” Jefferson Laws, Jr. of Advance, NC passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021, after reaching the age of 71.  Jeff was a loving husband, a wonderful Grandfather, a caring brother, and a remarkable friend to many.  Jeff was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and his kind, compassionate spirit.  He was born on April 27, 1949, in Hillsborough, North Carolina to Glade and Argie Laws.  He was a graduate of Orange High School and received his Accounting degree from UNC-Chapel Hill.  Jeff was then drafted to the National Guard in 1972 and remained active duty for 6 years.  He was destined to have a fulfilling career in finance as he was organized, practical and logical. He started as a CPA with D.E. Gatewood & Company in Winston-Salem and spent most of his career as a CFO for Microfibres Inc.  He happily retired from Air Flow Inc in 2019 at the age of 70.  Jeff married the love of his life, Cathy Carroll on August 30, 1969.  They shared a life together, side by side, for over 51 years.  They raised two wonderful sons, Jeff & Jon.  Jeff and his two sons share the same passion for music.  He played drums in his high school band and was also known to sing a tune or two.  If the boys were not playing or listening to music, you could find them on the ball field or court.  Not only was Jeff a coach to his boys’ basketball and baseball teams when they were young, but he also remained coaching and guiding them through life by giving them sound advice and encouragement.  Jeff (Papa) will always hold a special place in his granddaughter’s heart. Mia Gabrielle Laws was like sunshine on a rainy day to him, and they had a relationship full of laughter and love.  Jeff will be deeply missed by many who will forever miss hearing his stories, seeing him smile, or feeling the warmth of his love.  We celebrate his life today, always, and forever.  He is survived by his wife, Cathy Carroll Laws; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Jeff and Christine and Jon and Danielle; one granddaughter, Mia Gabrielle Laws; two siblings, Marilyn Hackney and Janet Simmons and husband Jeff; In-Laws, Dan and Marie Minnis and Larry and Karen Carroll.  An outdoor memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Clemmons Moravian Church, 3535 Spangenberg Avenue, Clemmons, NC 27012.  For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, Jeff’s family would appreciate donations be made to Clemmons Moravian Church.   Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
