Giovanni Battista Agnoli

WINSTON-SALEM-Mr. Giovanni Battista Agnoli, 71, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on November 8, 1941 in Bologna, Italy to Angelo Agnoli and Luciana Solimei-Agnoli. Mr. Agnoli was a renowned businessman with a career spent as an executive for International Conglomerates for over 40 years. He was an executive at Colgate Palmolive, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco International, President and CEO of Citibank Spain and later, President of CNN International. Most importantly, he was an exceptional husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. Giovanni especially loved time with his beloved grandsons, fishing, playing golf, and Formula One Racing. He will be missed by all of his family and friends. Described by his wife as ""the noblest gentleman in society and in business,"" he was also generous, exceptional and brave. Mr. Agnoli is survived by his wife, Maddalena Bertagni Agnoli of the home; two daughters, Benedetta Agnoli-Nicolazo of Winston-Salem and Francesca Agnoli-Levings and son-in-law, George Edward Levings, IV of Huntersville, NC; and two grandsons, Joachim Nicolazo and Jean-Baptiste ""JB"" Nicolazo of Winston-Salem.
