Gilbert Ray Marriott, 95, passed into the more immediate presence of the Lord on January 28, 2022. Born on July 1, 1926 to Elmer and Lola Marriott in Versailles, MO, Gil grew up on a farm with brothers, Clifford and Melvin and sister Zella. He served in the U.S. Army and was a WW II veteran. For the next 37 years he dutifully served with the National Security Agency (NSA) in the Washington, DC metro area. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley, niece/stepdaughter Dawn G. Hoback (George), godson/nephew/stepson Ross Gobble (Kathy), Alex Helsabeck, and many nieces and nephews from FL to NC to MO. Murt enjoyed working hard and relaxing in equal measure throughout a very active lifetime. He traveled many places over the years throughout the US and parts of Canada, but most of all, he loved just being at home. May he rest in peace. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Home Moravian Church with Rev. Ginny Tobiassen officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make memorials in his honor to Home Moravian Church, 529 Church St S, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
