Mr. Gilbert ""Gib"" Edward Davis, 84, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 19, 1924 in Davidson County, the son of the late, Evie and Lanora Crotts Davis. Mr. Davis was a member of Konnoak Hills Moravian Church where he was very active on the Board of Trustees, was an Usher and an Elder and various other activities. He served with the U. S. Army during World War II where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge in the 134 AAA Gun Battalion, receiving four bronze battle stars. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, was a man of his word and never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Belva Lee White and his great granddaughter, Morgan Hanson. Survivors include his wife, the love of his life, Helen Stutts Davis of the home; one son, Darrell Davis and wife, Phyllis of Kernersville; two daughters, Karen Key and husband, Charlie and Sharon Graham and husband, Max of Advance; seven grandchildren that he adored, Stephen Davis and wife, Mercedes, Melissa Hanson and husband, Jason, Chase Key, Andrew Key, Max Graham, III, Molly Graham and Mark Graham; one great grandson, Samuel Hanson; three brothers, Bill Davis, Joe Davis and Bob Davis of Welcome and a host of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Konnoak Hills Moravian Church with Rev. John Rights officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Moravian Church Graveyard.
