Gertrude Logan Parnell

Mrs. Gertrude Logan Parnell, 98, passed away Friday, December 10, 2010 at Britthaven of Kernersville. She was born January 24, 1912 in Yadkin Co. to the late Garfield and Betty Speer Logan. Mrs. Parnell was a charter member of Parkview Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Claude Linley Parnell, three sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Parnell retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. She also enjoyed many years of farming with her husband. Surviving are her two sons, Linley Parnell (Loretta), and Gary Parnell (Geraldine) both of Kernersville; one brother Dallas Logan of Lexington; five grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; four special friends, Rosemary Humphrey, Flora Manning, Jo Willard and June Worrell. A Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday December 13 at Parkview Primitive Baptist Church with Elder E.W. Hooven officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 until 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel and at other times at her son Gary's home in Kernersville. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Arbor Ridge and Britthaven for their loving care. Memorials be made to Parkview Primitive Baptist Church Building Fund in care of John Brooks 4116 Audrey St Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
