Geraldine Hastings Swaim

Kernersville Mrs. Geraldine Lois Hastings Swaim, age 90 passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born November 7, 1922 in Forsyth County to Henry Lake Hastings and Lena Money Hastings. Mrs. Swaim was a devoted member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church and was the second longest living member of the church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James Edwin Swaim Sr., two brothers, Houston and Norman Hastings. Surviving are two sons, James Edwin Swaim Jr. of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Stanley Gray Swaim of Kernersville, two sisters Wanda Morris of Walkertown and Laura Yow of Galax, VA., a brother James Thomas Hastings of Kernersville and eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday December 31, 2012 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dave Cash and Rev. Ellis Rouse officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Sedge Garden United Methodist Church, 794 Sedge Garden Rd., Kernersville, NC 27284.
