Geraldine Conner

Mrs. Geraldine "Gerry" Wood Conner, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. She was born April 2, 1926 in Lee County to the late Isaac Jackson and Ora Carter Wood. She and her husband faithfully taught Sunday school for a combined number of at least 100 years. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Clarence "Jug" Conner; a daughter, Carol C. Franklin; her first great-granddaughter, Lori Michelle, and two sisters, Flo Marion and Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Barbee. She is survived by a daughter, Janice C. Fulp (Royce), of King; five grandchildren, Rev. Todd Lusk (Alison) of King, Jason Lusk of Denver, Colorado, Julie Gammons (Travis) of King, Krista Cook (Gregory) of Monroe, N.C., Jarred Franklin (Jessica) of Apex, N.C., and seven great-grandchildren, Haley and Macey Cook, Zoie Gammons, David (Jessica), Nicholas, Darrin, and Caroline Lusk; one devoted sister, Iris W. Rumley, of King, N.C., and several very special nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Freedom Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Lusk officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Jon White officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 A.M to 12:45 P.M. Saturday at the church. The family will be available at other times at the home of her nephew, Joel and Teresa Marion, 1807 Shoals Road, Pinnacle, N.C. The family would like to express special thanks to Freedom Baptist Church, Janet Sumner, and Priddy Manor Assisted Living for the care and support given to Mrs. Conner during her illness.
