Gerald Bethea Manning

Mr. Gerald Bethea Manning, 79, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Brookridge Retirement Community. He was born on March 2, 1937 in Abbeville, SC to Rennie F. and Daisy Cann Manning. Mr. Manning graduated from Clemson University and earned his master's degree from Lehigh University. He began his career working for Western Electric where he met his wife Barbara Smith Manning. He continued his career with AT&T and retired from Lucent Technologies. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Rev. J. Franklin Manning. He is survived by his daughter, Geri Ann Manning Milner and husband Thomas of Winston-Salem; son, Marcus B. Manning of Mocksville; three grandchildren, Buddy Milner, Brad Milner, and John Milner; brother, Dr. William K. Manning and wife Karen of Abbeville, SC; sister-in-law, Martha Manning; seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Kevin Kilbreth officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
