Mrs. Georgia McCulloh Taft, age 91 formally of Charlotte, died Sunday, October 11, 2009 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born September 29, 1918 in Davie County to the late George and Harriet Jones McCulloh. Mrs. Taft was a member of Mouzon United Methodist Church in Charlotte and co-owner of City Auto Electric Company. She was an avid golfer and golfed with her friends well in to her 80's as long as her health permitted. She also painted still life pictures and was the reader of many fine books. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert Bartlett Taft and two sisters and six brothers. Surviving is one sister, Bonnie Helsabeck of Advance; a niece, Jean Phelps of Advance and nephews, Andy Smith also of Advance and Rick and James Taft of Charlotte and several other nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law, Hattie McCulloh of Advance. A funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 PM Monday, October 12, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel in Advance by G. W. McCullough, III. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 from 12 noon until 2:00 PM at the Hankins & Whittington Dilworth Chapel in Charlotte, followed by a 3:00 PM graveside service at Sharon Memorial Park.
