Georgia Ann Gibson Carter

Georgia Ann Gibson Carter, 84, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born on July 19, 1940, to the late Pastor Louie and Catherine Smith Gibson of Ashville, NC. She was one of 8 children. Georgia was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend, who will be missed deeply by all who knew her. Georgia worked for Ingles Grocery for 35 years until her retirement in 2004. She loved country and old time gospel music. She would spend her Saturday nights at the Carter Fold or the Boones Creek Opry.

In addition to her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by her daughter Pam Dyer, Siblings, Jane, Geneva, Juanita, Louie, Ronnie, and Tommy. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years Edward Carter; a brother Claude Gibson; daughter Donna Dyer (Joe) Cottrell and two step-children, Kimberly Carter (Charles) Gray and Christopher Carter; 4 grandchildren: Monica (Tyler) Wilcox, Valerie (Daniel) Langdon, Thomas Gray, Bradley (Leah) Gray; and 8 great-grandchildren: Judson, Ayla, Caroline, Annie, Levi, Tate, Dottie and Blakely.

Service arrangements will be forthcoming from Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home, Jonesborough Tennessee.
