George J. Vlasis, age 82 of Winston-Salem passed away quietly at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Winston-Salem on November 14, 1931 and was preceded in death by his father John and mother Virginia Devolis, his beloved son Fred and sisters Helen, Katherine, and Alice. George grew up in Winston-Salem and was a self made man. He made his living in the Construction Business and was a previous member of the Builders Association of Winston-Salem. He served in the Armed Forces and fought in the Korean War. George was a man of great faith and a member of the Greek Orthodox Church where he served on the Church Council and the Church Board as well as the Building Committee. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was married to his beautiful wife Elizabeth for 58 years. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, sons John (Helen), Mike (Caroline), Tony (Tonia), Steve and daughter-in-law Janine. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Elizabeth, Dean, Emilia, Stephanie, James, George and Ava. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 26th, from 7 to 8:30 pm with a Trisagion Service at 7:30 PM at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27th at 11 AM at the church.
