George "Wayne" Lanier

Mr. George ""Wayne"" Lanier, 66, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015.

Wayne was born November 12, 1948 in Nash County to the late William Roy Lanier and Ethel Johnson Lanier. He was a veteran of the US Navy and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He had a servant's heart, and will be fondly remembered as putting the needs of others before himself. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Richard ""Bill"" Lanier and his brother in law, Wilfred ""Buddy"" Eisenbraun.

Wayne is survived by his beloved children, Sylvia Lanier, and Dwayne Lanier and wife Amber; siblings, Jeanette Lanier, Bolder ""Rocky"" Lanier and wife Nancy, Theresa Sykes and husband Gene, Faye Brendle and husband Don, and Kaye Eisenbraun Smith and husband Larry; sister in law, Marge Lanier; 17 nieces and nephews, 32 great nieces and nephews, and 5 great great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Wayne's life will be held Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11 am at Bethel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 2170 Bethel Methodist Church Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103..
