George Edgar Jones

Mr. George Edgar Jones, 68, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Jones was born on September 26, 1943 in Guilford County to the late Mr. Thomas Marvin Jones and Dezzie Cooper Jones. Preceding Mr. Jones in death along with his parents are five brothers and sisters. Surviving Mr. Jones are his beloved wife, Margaret Carolyn Jones of the home; a daughter, Dawn Gordon (Luther) of Winston-Salem; two step-sons, Richard Leftwich of Lexington, NC and Michael Leftwich (Angie) of Lexington, NC; two step-daughters, Crystal Waugh (David) of Lexington, NC and Tonya Atwood (Greg) of Seale, Alabama; six grandchildren, Jordan, Nicholas, Chad, Jessie, Terrin and Paw-Paw's ""special little man"" Ryan; one great-grandchild, Brody; three sisters, Grace Inman (John) of Randleman, NC, Agnes Brown of Pleasant Garden, NC and Maxine Bovender of Greensboro, NC; and one sister-in-law, Magle Jones of Kernersville, NC. George was sober for 28 years through continued participation in Alcoholics Anonymous. He had many special friendships through Alcoholics Anonymous where he touched many lives and many looked to him for guidance in staying sober. A visitation will be held from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Monday, December 26, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Elder Kacie Moore, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park.
