George C. Jones

George C. Jones, 76, passed away at his home Friday, April 8, 2016 from complications of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. He was born in Jones County, NC July 5, 1939 to the late Mary Elizabeth Humphrey Jones and Albert Lannis Jones. Mr. Jones retired from the Navy as Senior Chief Petty Officer and later retired from the FAA. His hobbies included flying airplanes, performing in airshows, running in marathons, and restoring John Deere tractors. He also was a 50 year HAM radio operator and built three planes. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Carol Jones. He is survived by his wife, Linda Rawlins Jones; children; Victoria, Jeffrey, and Jonathan Jones; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Ann Walker, Dorothy Watts, and Susan McCollum; nephew, Ken Jones and wife, Donna who provided care for him; and also many extended family members, neighbors, and friends.
