George Francois Harris

ADVANCE, NC--Mr. George Francois Harris, 87, of Advance, NC, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Bermuda Commons. Mr. Harris was born on August 28, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1943-1945 where he fought in WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was a devoted Christian and of the Baptist Faith. Preceding Mr. Harris in death are his parents and two sisters. Surviving Mr. Harris are his wife of 67 years, Phyllis Stone Harris of Advance, NC; two daughters, Linda Harris of Orlando, FL and Carol Sheppard (Mike) of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Bryan Kuhns of Orlando, FL, Stephanie Whiteheart (Ryan) of Germanton, NC, Chris Sheppard (Heather) of Winston-Salem, and Amanda Castle (Jacob) of Walnut Cove, NC; and one great-grandson, Evan Whiteheart. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Steve Hardy officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, 5000 Country Club Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
