George Lester Foster

Mr. George Lester Foster , 77, of Mocksville died peacefully Tuesday morning, April 16th, 2013. George was born in Davie County on September 28, 1935 to the late George Leppard and Rose Ella Barney Foster. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Clemmons. His favorite past time was spending time with his family and taking his great grandchildren on golf cart rides. George was retired from Lucent Technologies in Winston Salem. Preceding him in death are his parents, sisters and brother in-laws, Mazie and Gurney Melton, Hazel and Henry Thomas, Blanche and Johnny Lagle, Walter Orrell, Ruth and Felix Reavis, Laura and Wallace Sparks, Gertrude and Robert Robertson, Helen and Alton Orrell, Colleen Forrest, Claude McNeill. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Ruth Green Foster and children, Pam Foster Burton (Terry) and Randy Foster (Dana) both of Mocksville. George had five grandchildren, Ryan Burton (Candice), Brooke Lowder (Matt), Matt Foster (Lauren), Brianna Barrett (Chris), Halie Burton all of Mocksville. He was blessed with eight great grand children, Rylan Burton, Isabella Lowder, Tori Burton, Briar Lowder, Jackson Barrett, Scarlett Lowder, Lilly Foster, Karmen Anderson all of Mocksville. He is also survived by two sisters Lucille Orrell of Advance and Gladys McNeill of Mocksville, a brother-in-law John Forrest of Mocksville, several nieces and nephews and his very faithful companion Susie. His special caregivers were Carolyn Sherrill, Frances Newbold, Dwayne Smith and Dustin Frye. A funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, April 19th at Hayworth- Miller Kinderton Chapel. Burial will follow at Dulin United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mocksville. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7 until 9pm at the funeral home.
