Mr. George Wilbur Flynt, 80, of Advance, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009. He was born April 18, 1929 to Robert Wade Flynt, Sr. and Beulah Hill Flynt. Mr. Flynt was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Flynt retired from Dillard's Department Store. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Woodcock Flynt. Surviving are two daughters, April Flynt O'Mara and husband Mark O'Mara of Advance and Jane Flynt Hensdale and husband Mark Hensdale of Advance; one stepson, Frank Wright of Mississippi; five grandchildren, Bradley Wright, Zachary Wright, Tyler O'Mara, Cody O'Mara and Danny Flynt; two sisters, Louise Cooper of Winston-Salem and Beulah Mae Burcham of Yadkinville; seven brothers, Conrad Flynt, Woodrow Flynt, Samuel E. Flynt, Howard Flynt, all of Winston-Salem, Robert W. Flynt, Jr. of North Wilkesboro, Roy Flynt of Yadkinville and Joe Flynt of Clemmons. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Karl Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home.
