George Douglas Buie

Mr. George Douglas Buie, Jr., 66, of Clemmons passed away Wednesday, January 06, 2010 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was born October 29, 1943 in Bladen Co. to George Douglas and Doris Holmes Buie. Mr. Buie was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and retired from the Winston-Salem Journal with 45 ½ years of service. He was past master of the Clemmons Masonic Lodge 755AFAM and a member of Winston-Salem Shriners Club. Mr. Buie was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Daphane Wall Buie. He is survived by two daughters, Michelle Washam and husband Gary of Pfafftown, Diana B. Young and husband Eddie of Clemmons; a son, Mitch Buie and wife Kim of Mocksville; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; a step-mother, Allie Buie of McDonough, GA; two brothers, Drew Buie and wife Pam of Winston-Salem and Dennis Buie of Atlanta, GA; sister Dee Minter and husband Mark of Jackson, GA and a loving friend, Judy Long of Walnut Cove. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with Dr. Stephen Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. Memorials may be made to Pine Grove UMC Cub Scout and Boy Scout Fund, 1130 Jonestown Rd., Winston-Salem, NC, 27103. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Kate B.
