George Miller Alspaugh

ALSPAUGH- George Miller Alspaugh age 87, passed away on November 3, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County to the late Samuel B. Alspaugh on January 17, 1922. A free spirit and avid horseman who would have been a cowboy in the 1800's, served his country well in World War II. George attained The Purple Heart and four Bronze Stars for his devotion to his country. He was preceded in death by one brother, Samuel B. Alspaugh, Jr. Surviving are a sister, Hill A. Hunter and a brother, Eben W. Alspaugh both of Winston-Salem; three children, Diana A. Etchison of East Bend, Pamela Alspaugh of Davie County, and Jake Alspaugh of Pfafftown; four grandchildren, Jodi E. Fisher, Joshua Etchison, Jill E. Goldbach, and Ryan Alspaugh; two great-grandchildren, Judd and Jace Goldbach. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 6, 2009 At Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
