Genevieve Cranford Hill

Mrs. Genevieve Cranford Hill, 86, died peacefully at Heritage Woods where she had been a resident for several years. Mrs. Hill was born in Davidson County on November 21, 1924 to parents, Clay and Bertha Cranford. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Prevost Hill. She is survived by her son, Dr. Gary Hill and wife Patty of Chapel Hill; grandchildren Gary Hill, Jr. and wife Angela of Chapel Hill, Christopher Hill and wife Debbie of Raleigh and Caroline Hill of Miami,FL; and great-grandchildren Keller, Kristian and Ada Hill of Raleigh. Mrs. Hill was a graduate of Denton High School and Draughns Business College. She resided in Staley and Winston-Salem her adult life and retired from Bowman Gray School of Medicine Department of Surgery as secretary to Dr. Sherrill Hudspeth. As a member of Central Terrace Methodist Church she was active in the United Methodist Women, serving in several leadership positions. She and her late husband were also involved members of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her love of family, particularly her grandchildren, and her devotion to UNC sports were a constant. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. David DiMarco officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heritage Woods Residence Appreciation Fund, 3812 Forrestgate Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
