Mrs. Lillian Geneva Lacy Story, 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, went to Glory peacefully while surrounded by her daughters in New Bern, North Carolina, Friday, September 28, 2012, after a two-year period of declining health. Mrs. Story was born ""Baby Lacy"" in Fayetteville on January 19, 1926, to John and Lillian Lacy. She is preceded by her parents, husband Harry Albert ""Buck"" Story, brother Johnny, sisters Ella, Evelyn and Eula-May and daughter Harrie. Mrs. Story is survived by daughters Deborah and husband, Alex Montagnet, of Clemmons, Irond and husband, Dr. Fred Miller, of New Bern and Lynn and husband, Jim Brammer, of Mooresville; grandchildren Dr. Josh Creason and wife, Courtney, of Germantown, Tennessee, Jesseca and husband, Aaron Willard, of Stockesdale, Alexander and Chase Montagnet, Baxter Miller and Michael and Jennifer Brammer; and great-grandchildren Elise, Charlotte and Lyla Creason and Gavin, Jocelynn, Callie and Olivia Willard. Mrs. Story moved to Forsyth County with her young family in 1952 after marrying her husband, Buck, in 1946 in Dillon, South Carolina, following his return from the US Navy during the Second World War. While her fiancé served his country abroad, Mrs. Story served her country on the home front by tirelessly packing parachutes for the troops. In Forsyth County, she worked as a seamstress and manager for Camel City Cleaners and David's Dry Cleaners for over 40 years. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church where she participated in worship services, Sunday school and Wednesday evening fellowship dinners and was an active volunteer in the church and greater community. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing handmade clothes for her children, admiring colorful flowers, baking sweet treats and chatting with friends and family. Above all, Mrs. Story felt her greatest accomplishment was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother; her greatest wish was for her children to be able to share that same bond with their own families. Her legacy remains in the love she showed and shared with her family and friends, which give all a glimpse of the love of Christ. Mrs. Story's family will receive friends Monday evening, October 1, 2012, from 7-9 PM at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home located at 3315 Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem. The funeral service celebrating Mrs. Story's life and legacy will be held Tuesday afternoon, October 2, 2012, at 4:00 PM with Dr. Gary Chapman and Dr. Josh Creason at Calvary Baptist Church located at 5000 Country Club Road in Winston-Salem.
