Geneva Irene Bryant Stewart

Mrs. Geneva Irene Bryant Stewart of Pilot Mountain, 93, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at Golden Living of Surry County. She was born March 29, 1922 in Surry County to Daniel Franklin Bryant and Vena Arvada Hunt Bryant. She was a retired textile seamstress for 32 years. Geneva was an avid homemaker and enjoyed knitting, quilting and crocheting. In addition, farming was one of her favorite things in life, to watch her efforts grow in raising tobacco and vegetables. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, a caring neighbor and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter Raleigh Stewart; parents, 4 brothers; Odell, Arlyss, Omer, and Aubrey Bryant. In addition, daughter-in-law Imogene Stewart, and great-grandson Timothy Andrew Merritt. She is survived by her son, Dalmer Stewart of Mt Airy; Daughters Barbara S. Collins (Wayne) of Pilot Mountain; Carole Rogers (Berkley) of Mt Airy; Wanda Porter (Jerry) of Asheboro; 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; Sister Fleta Bryant Myers of Pilot Mountain; Sisters-in-law; Mozelle Stewart of Rural Hall, Christine Bryant of Mt. Airy, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday August 24, 2015 at Friendly Chapel in Pilot Mountain, N.C. with Brother Don Collins and Rev. Barry Clement officiating. Interment will follow at Whitakers Chapel United Methodist Cemetery, 654 Whitaker Chapel Road, Pilot Mountain, N.C. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 P.M. to 1:45 P.M. The family would like to express their appreciation for those special friends who gave their loving care for Geneva during her time of sickness. The family would also like to give very special thanks to the care given to Geneva from Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.
