Gene David Weitnauer

Mr. Gene David Weitnauer, 77, of Advance passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at his home. Mr. Weitnauer was born July 7, 1934 in Decatur, GA to John Henry Weitnauer, Sr. and Elsa Denk Weitnauer. He was an ordained Elder and a member of Clemmons Presbyterian Church. Mr. Weitnauer graduated from the University of Georgia and served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. He was employed by Sears for 41 years, in twelve locations and retired as Manager of the Hanes Mall Store. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother August Denk Weitnauer. Surviving are his wife, Laurina Ford Weitnauer of the home; three sons, Michael Weitnauer, of Decatur, GA, Steven Weitnauer and wife Sherri of Raleigh, NC and Thomas Weitnauer and wife Virginia of Maryville, TN; three grandchildren, Julianna, Elizabeth and Jacob Weitnauer; two brothers, John Weitnauer and wife June of Atlanta, GA and Joel Weitnauer and wife Rachel of Atlanta, GA. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Clemmons Presbyterian Church with Dr. William Hoyle officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Church Columbarium. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Clemmons Presbyterian Church, 3930 Clemmons Road, Clemmons, NC 27012 or Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
