Gene Turner Ambrose, Sr.

KERNERSVILLE-Gene Turner Ambrose, Sr., 75, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born June 5, 1935 in Martin Co. to the late Wilson Eldridge and Sudie Lewis Ambrose. Gene served in the United States Army for 4 years and was stationed in Germany, where he met Margot Schrody, the love of his life. On June 3, 2010 they celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Gene's gift to his family and friends was to always keep them laughing. He enjoyed having breakfast with the guys, spending time with his grandchildren and his greatest joy of all was having his whole family together. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Biggs, Margaret Harrell; and three brothers, Henry, Robert, and Bill Ambrose. Surviving are his wife, Margot Schrody Ambrose of the home; two sons, Gene T. Ambrose, Jr. and wife, Wanda, Stan Ambrose and wife, Cindy; three grandchildren, Zachary and Brandon Ambrose, and Jennifer Grigg; one brother, Earl Ambrose; five sisters, Ruth Styons, Shelvia Owens, Janice Smith, Eula Mae Watson, and Peggy Sprull. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Russ Ambrose and Bill Teague officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm prior to the service.
