Mrs. Gaynelle Blanton Waters, 93, of Winston-Salem died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Independence Village. She was born December 26, 1917 in Rutherford County, the daughter of the late Bert and Maggie McGee Blanton. Mrs. Waters was of the Methodist Faith. She and her husband resided in Charlotte for many years before moving to Winston-Salem three years ago to be near her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Waters, her son, Jack A. Waters and eight brothers and sisters. Survivors include one son, Douglas B. Waters and wife, Amanda of Winston-Salem; two granddaughters, Amy Baker and husband, David of Winston-Salem and Laura Meg Parrish and husband, Jeffrey of Charlotte; one great grandson, Jonah Douglas Baker of Winston-Salem; one daughter - in-law, Betty G. Waters of Rutherfordton. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 PM at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Rutherford County. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:45 PM at the church.
