Gayle Maw Bumgardner Powell Burns

Mrs. Gayle ""Maw"" Bumgardner Powell Burns, 72, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born May 15, 1938 in Forsyth County to the late Alma Bullins and Pleas Anderson Bumgardner. Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Powell. Surviving are one daughter, Debbie Beshears (Doug) of Lexington; two sons, James Powell of Lexington and Donnie Powell (Christie) of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Ken Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church cemetery. There is no stated visitation. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for their special care and compassion for their mother.
