Gaye Gardner

Oak Ridge – Mrs. Gaye Nelson Gardner, 84, passed away October 4, 2021, at Moses Cone Medical Center. She was born in West Virginia on April 12, 1937, to Richard Bryan and Dessie Defibaugh Nelson. Gaye loved the Lord and her church. She was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. At one time, Gaye was the President of the Guilford County Paralegal Association. The following year, she became the President of the North Carolina Paralegal Association. Gaye loved her husband and her family very much. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her .In addition to her parents, Gaye was preceded in death by her brother, Richard “Dickie” Bryan Nelson, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Gardner; her daughter, Robin Gardner Robertson (Robby); three sons, Bryan (Tammy), Jay (Bobbie), and Kerry (Shannon) Gardner; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and two sisters, Kay Nelson Long and Sally Nelson Roberts. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm prior to the service at the church. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Carter officiating. A private family interment will take place in Oak Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church at 1715 NC-68, Oak Ridge, NC 27310. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Gardner family.
